Hemp Protein & Veggies




 I truly believe that there are two types of pregnant women in this world: there is the momma who can barely keep any food down, no matter what she does, and then… there is the momma who is like me: the one who can barely keep herself from eating everything in sight.

                Before getting pregnant, I have always sworn to myself that I would have the healthiest pregnancy. I would work out the entire 40 weeks, and I would eat the healthiest foods possible. I mean it can’t be that hard, I reasoned, I’m already vegan anyways.

                The moment I found out I was pregnant back in October has to have been the happiest moment of my life. Immediately, I told myself no more junk food, no more juice, I’m cutting everything cold turkey…. Then came the pregnancy craving. Before I knew it, Lay’s potato chips became my snack of choice. In no time, I was having bowls of potato chips and could not for the life of me resist the temptation.

                Time came for my first ever prenatal appointment and….. deep sigh… I had gained 10 lbs within 4 weeks of becoming pregnant…yikes! I remember leaving the doctor’s office feeling slightly disappointed but more determined than ever.

                 I knew the first thing that had to go was the potato chips and all other junk food I had been sneaking into my ‘diet’. In my week of researching healthier meal options, I came across Nutiva Organic Hemp Protein and my life forever changed. With a few changes, swapping vegan junk food for more plant-based whole foods, eating more greens like kale and spinach, and incorporating hemp protein in my morning smoothies, I was able to lose 4 of the 10 pounds I had gained by the time my second prenatal appointment came around.


                 Cravings while pregnant can be the hardest things to resist, but the hemp protein has really helped me to manage my weight by curbing my cravings and eliminating unnecessary snacking. Also, I found that I had more energy during my workouts; which can be very difficult while pregnant.
